Marietas Islands Scuba Diving

Las Marietas Islands Marine Reserve is part of an underwater mountain range that peaks above the surface and marks the entrance to Banderas Bay from the Pacific Ocean. Home to the world famous “Hidden Beach”, this site became famous worldwide after hosting dives and explorations by Jacques Cousteau during the 1970’s. Marietas Islands are ideal for a great 1-tank dive offering a great eco adventure diving experience for beginners with depths of 25-75ft/7.5-23m and an average visibility of 39ft/12m.

El Morro Scuba Diving

El Morro is a diverse scuba diving site suited to small groups of certified divers. It is located on the edge of Banderas Bay, six miles west of the Marietas Islands. The El Morro scuba diving site is comprised of a series of rock pinnacles that extend above the Pacific waters, while below the surface they provide a diverse mix of technical dive challenges including 150 foot depths, wall diving, cave diving, and a 50 foot tunnel dive. Los Anegados Scuba Diving

The Los Anegados diving site is located at the outer limits of Banderas Bay about half way between the Marietas Islands and the El Morro diving site. Los Anegados is a rock bank that provides a shallower dive filled with caves and interesting rock formations that begins at about 30 feet below the ocean’s surface. Marine life common to the Los Anegados diving site include rays, eels, tuna, jacks, and giant mantas. Los Anegados is also a great spot for open water qualified divers to experience the generally gentle but majestic nurse sharks that are often sighted in this area. With a 30-80ft/9-25m depth and 30-90ft/9-28m visibilities, these warm Pacific waters make for a great day of scuba diving in Riviera Nayarit.
